Background

Mary Beth Stinson is a dancer originally from Kennesaw, Ga. Growing up, she danced with Great Gig Dance Company before studying at University of Georgia. She has strong tap training, growing up and taking classes from well known tap dancers such as Chloe Arnold, Mike Minery, and Ayodele Cassele. She won numerous tap scholarships from a very young age and learned that tap was her favorite type of dance.She was chosen out of applicants around the United States to attend a prestigious tap workshop in New York City called Tap Kids. She has also won various scholarships in tap from conventions such as JUMP, NUVO, and HOCTOR. She has used these scholarships to attend elite tap workshops such as SLIDE. During SLIDE, she worked with over ten faculty members to perform at the Roseland Theatre in New York City, such as Anthony Morigerato and Mark Goodman. She has experience working with many other famous tap dancers of our time at Broadway Dance Center and Steps in New York City. Her home studio of Great Gig dance company hosts a tap convention, "Totally Tap" by Mark Goodman every fall featuring tap dancers such as Jason Janas and Jumaane Taylor. Mary Beth is also trained in many other styles as well as tap, and has many experience in teaching and performing other genres. These genres include lyrical, ballet, pointe, jazz, aerial, African, improvisation, contemporary/modern, and hip hop. 

Though specializing in tap, she started dancing when she was six, studying all styles of dance. She began teaching dance at Great Gig dance studio when she was in the seventh grade starting with private lessons in tap. By the time she was in high school, she was proficient in teaching tap and other genres of dance for all ages and levels. After teaching at Great Gig, her home studio, she went to UGA to earn a degree in dance.
